Why does everyone always scratch West Virginia off?

i'm a lifelong west virginian and a die hard WVU fan myself. i think they can beat kentucky again just like they did last year but to be realistic i have them losing to ohio state. this year's team isn't quite as good as last year's because they lost their two best players (da'sean butler and devin ebanks) to the nba draft.
